CHERWELL DISTRICT DIAL-A-RIDE - KIDLINGTON

The door to door mini-bus service, operated by BCTA Ltd which serves the Cherwell District from 0900 - 1700 for elderly and those with impaired mobility who experience difficulty in using conventional public transport.  Eligible people who hold a Cherwell Bus Pass can now travel on this service FREE.  From the 1st April 2008 those who hold a National Travel Pass will be able to use the Dial-a-Ride service, provided you have registered with BCTA prior to making any bookings.

Dial-A-Ride is.... a bus service that you book the day before you wish to travel. Requests for the next day’s services will be taken by telephone between 0900 and 1100 daily.  Please give our staff as much flexibility as possible regarding the time you wish to travel.  Between 1100 and 1300 daily, the following day’s schedules will be drawn up to make the fullest use of our buses and to satisfy the maximum number of requests received.

BCTA’s buses are easy to get on and off, being fitted with low steps and wheelchair lifts/ramps.  You can use your Cherwell District Council Tokens or Bus Pass on the Dial-A-Ride Buses.  Right click on the link and “Save Target As….” to download our Dial-A-Ride Leaflet. (Adobe Acrobat required).

You can phone the number given below the day before your proposed journey and our helpful staff will be pleased to assist with your booking.

The service is available all day on Thursdays & Fridays for journeys within the Kidlington urban area.  The maximum fare is £1.20 per single journey.

It may also be possible to include journeys from your Village to Kidlington on Wednesdays.  The maximum fare is £2 per single journey.

Also it may be possible to include journeys from your Village to Bicester on Tuesdays & Thursdays.  The maximum fare is £2.50 per single journey.

On Mondays it may be possible to include journeys from your Village to Banbury.  The maximum fare is £3 per single journey.

This gives 5 days cover a week for the Kidlington area.

If you need Extra Assistance?

If you have an escort, the standard fare will be charged. Many places that you can visit will provide you with extra assistance when you get there, eg. Bus Station and most shops.
